After 28 years, Vladimir Vlcek is still an active member of the FEU Council.

His first FEU meeting was on the 6th of June 1995 at the Tampere meeting where the draft Constitution of FEU was adopted and so became formally the Federation of the European Union Fire Officers Association.

Vladimir is an extremely involved and committed colleague. Most rational in his insights and a strong developed strategic nose for the broader consequences of any decision. He showed natural leadership and therefore well respected by all colleagues. He founded the Czech Association CAFO in the mid 1990’s as an independent association of fire officers. He hosted FEU meetings in Prague October 2002 and Ostrava July 2009. Recently, he has been active in the European disaster management area and has been an ambassador for EU on several EU disaster relief and humanitarian missions all over the world. He is now the longest serving delegate attending FEU meetings and nearly missed a meeting.

Therefore, the FEU board was pleased to award Vladimir with the FEU Gold Cross of Merit.
