Golden Cross of Merit awarded to Wim Van Zele

During his two terms as a member of the FEU Board and as Chair of the Voice Committee (2021–2026), Wim Van Zele, as a delegate of the full member Netwerk Brandweer Belgium, made a significant contribution to strengthening the federation’s internal and external positioning. Under his leadership, the FEU communication plan was developed, providing a clear and consistent framework for the federation’s representation and engagement with members and partners.

He also played an important role in further professionalising FEU’s external relations, including the development of sponsor guidelines and a structured decision-making framework to ensure transparency and consistency. In addition, he contributed to the 30-year anniversary of the FEU, supporting both the commemorative activities and the development of the jubilee coin and jubilee publication.

With the conclusion of his Board term, Wim leaves a legacy of dedication, professionalism and effective leadership. The award of the Golden Cross of Merit is a fitting recognition of his lasting contribution to the FEU.
