10th European Conference on Protecting Clothing

Protection challenges in a changing world

Arnhem, the Netherlands - 9-12 May 2023


We would like to inform you about the progress of organizing the next European Conference on Protective Clothing, the 10th ECPC, and the connected activities.

 We aim for the physical meeting and the conference to take place on May 9-12, 2023 in Arnhem, the Netherlands. The conference is organized by the Institute for Safety (IFV). A firefighter Theme Day is planned to be held during the conference.

The institute is reorganizing and a new website will be available from March. For now, please keep track of the updates also at European Society of Protective Clothing (
ESPC) homepage where you’ll find short information on the conference, including important dates (preliminary) and introduction slides.

For whom?
This conference invites industries, public authorities and academic organizations – researchers, designers, manufacturers, purchasers, health and safety experts, human factors experts and procurement specialists and end-users to exchange and discuss research and project development for personal protective clothing (PPC) and equipment (PPE).

The aim of the conference is to promote research and cooperation in the area of personal protection. A functional and comfortable use of protective clothing is a key element for a successful implementation of preventive and protective measures in the workplaces. This conference covers a broad spectrum of the subject protective clothing, and has turned into internationally qualified source of new, valuable and useful information for the advancement of the knowledge and the application of protective clothing.

Webinar series
In the meantime, while  waiting for the conference we have planned a webinar series in co-operation between European Textile Platform (ETP) and ESPC. The first webinar is planned at March 7 at and is on European funding opportunities. The first webinar will be about EU Funding opportunities for smart protective textiles & clothing for civil defence applications and it is planned for Thu 7 March at 14.30 -17.00 CET. The full programme and registration are available online. The webinar is free of charge, but registration is required.
