FIRE AID and the Federation of European Fire Officers (FEU) are exploring a European-wide approach to giving surplus firefighting equipment a second life.
At the FEU Council Meeting in Amsterdam, Claire Hoyland of FIRE AID will introduce the Sustainable Fire and Rescue Equipment Donation Pilot 2026–2027. The pilot will initially focus on surplus Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), with the aim of reducing waste and supporting fire and rescue services with limited resources.
FEU members will be invited to complete a short survey to identify available surplus PPE and organisations interested in participating. FIRE AID will coordinate the pilot, including logistics and international redistribution.
Giving equipment a second life, while supporting firefighters where it is needed most.
