It was an honour for the FEU to welcome Mrs Dr. Lori Moore-Merrell c.s., US Fire Administrator from the United States, at the Council meeting in Riga. Dr. Lori Moore-Merrell was appointed by President Joseph Biden as the U.S. fire administrator on Oct. 25, 2021. Prior to her appointment, Lori served nearly 3 years as the president and chief executive officer (CEO) of the International Public Safety Data Institute, which she founded after retiring from a 26-year tenure as a senior executive in the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF). Stephan Wevers, president FEU, invited her and since she was in Europe, she delighted the FEU delegates with an introduction on the US Fire Administration and their National Strategy. At previous meetings in the US a discussion for collaborative efforts in the future was initiated and it was agreed at this Council meeting to take this further.

As a token of appreciation for her attendance and commitment and hope for good cooperation, Mrs Moore Morrell received the cross of merit in bronze.
