Corps départemental des sapeurs pompiers de l’Hérault
The Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS) is a public establishment which includes a departmental body organized into fire and rescue centers and has a health and medical rescue service. This public body is common to the Department, the municipalities and the public establishments for inter-municipal cooperation (EPCI).
It is placed under a double authority: that of the Prefect for operational measures and that of the Chairman of the SDIS Board of Directors for administrative and financial management. The management of this service is provided by a senior officer of professional firefighters who exercises the functions of Departmental Director of Fire and Rescue Services but also Head of the departmental body of firefighters of Hérault. The Departmental Director has a deputy who assists him permanently.
